In the beginning it is said God created the Heavens and the Earth. Seven days passed in the Maker’s glory and the Earth was populated, in multitude, by beasts of land, beasts of sea, and beasts of air - All to be governed by the one who was made in his image: Adam, son of God. . . Silly Christians. . .
In the beginning, careful eyes watched as the primates of the world grew in power, abandoning their tree-top domain to walk upright in the world below. The same eyes watched as humans developed, as they began to thrive above the other beasts of the Earth, even surviving their cousin breeds through the coming of the Ice Age. These humans, the earliest of free-thinking beasts, lived their lives oblivious of the world around them, growing selfish in their own manner and taking the world by whole. You see, in the dark corners of the worlds birth, by whatever means it came about, there were more than the primitive beasts that walked this Earth.
Time passed and the humans began to grow aware that they were not alone. Sects of the species grew wise in a sense, seeing these other beings as abominations, monsters in the yes of the Gods they worshipped. More time passed and from the coffers of kings and queens their insanity was fueled, this secret organization, as they rose in both numbers and power, growing seasoned in the mannerisms of the hunt. They called themselves Katharos, “purity” in the Greek dialect of their origins, and, through their teachings humans have whispered about the things that go bump in the night, branching off to form other sects that have also survived time such as the Templars. In essence though, these men and women were the first of the vampire hunters. . .
When the Purge began, Katharos was nothing more than a series of radical soothsayers who fell like sheep to the Trinity, the hierarchy of the vampire world that consisted of three ancient and powerful covens. Meanwhile, in their self-absorbed power, the Trinity warred among themselves and other covens over things as idiotic as land and wealth and remained oblivious to the threat growing from those who lived beneath the sun. Then, time arrived to show them their mistakes as vampires began to disappear in mass quantities and coven houses began to burn. The humans had bidden their time and now, with both technology and numbers on their side, had overwhelmed the Children of the Night. The Trinity quickly formed a shaky alliance, old grudges and hatreds set aside for the common fury they held but it was far too late. They fell at the hands of Katharos, all glory and power shattered until they were naught but several dozen rogues, living in what was left of the secret homes of their coven, hiding in fear of what the humans had become.
Today Katharos moves ever closer to the end of their Great Purging as they use the havoc induced by the second World War as a shield from their own advances through the world. Their assaults grow bolder with each new night and vampires who had hidden for centuries from their wrath are being destroyed. If this was not enough, it is rumored that Katharos holds a new horror for their vampiric foes: The V-3 Apollo. In the great forges of the modern man this biogenetic suit is said to have been made, the technology infusing itself with the user and turning them into a new form of super soldier. These “Paladins” as Katharos calls them have become nearly as fast and strong as any vampire and make the war nearly hopeless for the Children of the Night.
So, hidden beneath the cities of mortals the vampires huddle like rats, awaiting the day when perhaps mankind will consume themselves or they themselves will meet with extinction. The battles have grown rarer, those willing to fight back harder to come by. The only thing that remains in the cold hearts and ageless minds of the vampires is the desperate desire to throw off the chains of the titan Katharos has become and to once again become the hunter instead of the prey. . . .
The Trinity:
Ordo Aevrik: “Order of the Panther” - They are the eldest coven any can remember, once having ruled over all Children of the Night with an iron fist and a cunning gaze. Their teachings are that of the Panther in the sense that once must be the majestic beast, ferocious and breath-taking to behold and yet they must be the shadow in the night, unseen until upon ones prey. They must be the image of perfection in their phantom-like vendettas against those who would dare question them.
Their morals are centered around the honor of success and the shame of failure. You cannot be of the Ordo if you cannot achieve victory, for the shame will corrupt the whole and that will not be tolerated. As a result of these teachings, the defeat at the hands of Katharos has crippled Aevrik to a severe mental degree, making them shut themselves far from anything living, drowning in their remorse and shame.
Ordo Sel’Avodar: “Order of the Crow”- Founded by the blood of Sel’Avodar who was one of the greatest warriors in both his human and vampire legacies left behind. In the path of Sel’Avodar, one must never, at any time, physically touch their prey to inflict death. Sight and skill is all one needs.
In these teachings Ordo Sel’Avodar trained their warriors for centuries, using every tool imaginable, honing their skills as the silent death. As technology progressed, Sel’Avodar broke what many covens viewed as a sacred code and began to use the weapons of mortals, falling quickly in love with the deadly effects of their rifles and implementing them in their methods of hiding in plain sight. In truth, this likely saved Sel’Avodar in many ways once they were discovered, helping them assure their numbers suffered nothing in comparison to the remainder of the Trinity. The other factor in this result is Sel’Avodar’s disregard for the honor system that they believe plagues other covens. To them, honor is in the result, no matter how you obtained it and there is no shame in the victim never having known death was arriving.
Ordo Lavrune: “Order of the Bear” - Lavrune, even in the distant past, was the most feared of all covens and remains so even in the rule of Katharos. To a Lavrune, the kill is ecstasy and must be done by completely drowning yourself in it, casting out ones fears and sense of self-preservation. They believe the blade and the hand that wields it is the only tool for death, that to not inflict as much damage and fear as possible is a cowardly act and so, when they go to battle alone or in numbers, rarely does anyone forget. They are the berserkers of the vampire world and suffered greatly for this. . .
When the purge began it was Lavrune that Katharos crushed first, realizing the danger they held. They were nearly wiped from history in hours as these “cowardly mortals” slew them by the hundreds with their guns before the vampires had any hope of drawing their beloved blades. Today, some say they are extinct, while others say the great bear is hibernating, awaiting the day to extract revenge.[/]
Katharos: “Katha Corporation” - As an adaptation to the times, Katharos quickly ended their days of being the guards and bounty hunters for royalty in the ancient world and for the longest time disappeared to any but the vampires and those they recruited from the shadows of the human world. In the early days of WWI they reemerged as “Katha Corporation“, claiming to the men and women of the world to be the secret societies descendants and, having rid the world of vampires so long ago, would continue their legacy by supplying the soldiers of today’s worlds with the weapons to rid themselves of the new evils that arise. They quickly became the worlds largest weapons manufacture seemingly overnight supplying weapons to whichever side of the battle paid more and, on occasion, to both at once.
Today they appear the same, loving the realms of war once more as their pockets overflow with the funds to continue their vendetta against the Children of the Night. They might be a bit more corporate and ran by elders hidden behind television monitors, but they are still the great beast they had become ages ago. Their corporate logo, the sun, remains the emblem of the Paladins (their hunters) as it has since the days of ancient Greece, where they swore themselves to the god Apollo to rid the world of darkness. This same logo can be seen in almost every battlefield on the weapons and tools of destruction while, at the same time, the unseen soldiers wear them while they work behind the scenes to end the war at last and purify the world once and for all!
Character Creation: “Who Will You Become?”
Each player within “To The Last Breath” has the ability to choose from becoming a “Child of the Night” as well as a “Paladin of Katharos”. Each player holds differences obviously due to not only the different alliance but the different species. I would like to take a moment to point out several key factors any player must remember when playing either one:
1. A human without his V-3 Apollo is weaker and slower than a vampire but not helpless.
2. Humans must breath, eat, sleep, etc.. Vampires must drink blood. [Meaning I do not want to hear an entire storyline where the vampire never feeds or how the human goes weeks tracking the vampire through Siberia without food.]
3. Being a vampire or a human wearing his/her V3-Apollo DOES NOT ever mean you are invincible. Please try to remember that in PvP posts as well as during all other aspects of RP.
4. There are things we cannot control going on in the world of TLB. It is based during WWII and peoples plans are going to go to hell from time to time if they do not know the general idea of WWII. Please take a moment to look over the years it occurred, key people from this time, as well as key battles and events. This will enrich the experience for a vampire or human player to know this, having been the most talked about news topic.
I know some of the above were common sense but they are just there as a reminder to both types of players. So please, keep them in mind.
______________________________________________________
Moving to the next subject, I would like to clarify that any and all players are subject to what will be known as Kismet (which means fate, destiny, ect.) in TLB. This will be either my own or another persons random addition to the events of the storyline. For example:
[Normal Roleplaying Storyline Summary] - For the past three weeks the rogue vampires have searched the libraries of the Vatican, a central base for the forces of Katharos while hiding from both Paladin and Vatican troops. The days are getting long as they search for any clues to who leads Katharos and how to defeat them, they fear constantly they will be caught.
[Random “Kismet Post”] - As the vampires search, frantic at this point to find something, a gleaming lens watches from the southwest corner of the room. The security cameras that had been installed earlier that morning watched the Children of the Night at work, the monitors frantically alerting the Vatican and Paladin guards at the intrusion. The alarm sounds, startling the vampires. . .[please continue with story from here].
Basically they are random things that could actually happen in the world that perhaps the Katharos or Vampire players couldn’t do at the time. Both teams are subject to this “Kismet” and it will never be bias on any player, including the player who posts it. To make it fair I will begin with the first “Kismet” at a random point and there afterwards enter everyone who has yet to use it and is active in TLB into a generator and let it randomly pick a name. That user will then have one “Kismet” action to use at any random point and then so on. I know this is out of the ordinary but it adds a little bit of the unpredictable to it. If, after awhile, everyone is objective to it, we can dismantle the idea.

There is going to be language, actions, and depictions that will not be appropriate for younger users and I ask you to not read further or partake if you are under the age of eighteen (18). This is a story for adults fueled by murder, schemes, and vengeance and it will be treated such. We do not have time to filter everything for (assumed) innocent eyes. As for you age-appropriate players, there is nothing off limits as far as the storyline itself. Please try to keep in mind the actual history of WWII as realistic as possible (overlooking the Apollo V3 suits of course) and also keep in alliance with the general rules for RP’ing such as no god-modding. As for the romance, violence, and everything else, go wild. Any questions or ideas can be sent directly to me via bloodletter at ID 214404 with the subject “TLB”.
